Ramblings of a Grower: 5

Hi again my avid readers and spam commenters. It is hotter than Hades here at the farm, both inside and outside of the greenhouse. I can’t decide if moving or sitting still is hotter its that hot. Things in the greenhouse are going well. We got some lacewings in to feast on our wonderful pest buggys. I have yet to see an adult but I know they take a few weeks to mature so we shall see. Veggies are finally going out into the garden, very late I know, but we were all so behind on everything else. There’s also more raspberries than any one person could eat in a reasonable amount of time. Please come buy them. There’s so many. I am harvesting at least three quarts a day. And lets not even mention the gooseberries. There’s even more of those. My new favorite thing though is to take some tulsi leaves, cold brew them for a few hours, through in some raspberries and then let those sit for a bit. Its a delicious drink and it both adds variety to plain water, and also gives the illusion of having a fun cocktail, so that’s nice.

It is very likely that the hundreds of aloes I propagated will be leaving us soon to be sold at some big name store. So if you’re interested, be sure to stop by. We also have snake plants and some other large plants too. Come get them.

A small spider just sprinted across the floor in front of me, I don’t know where he was going that he felt the need to run but good for him. I can’t even remember the last time I ran for anything. Speaking of spiders, a tiny jumping spider parachuted himself onto my computer by accident yesterday. He then proceeded to hurriedly pull in the web and spy on me from the stop curve of my screen. I tried to scoop him up and put him on the plants and he decided he’d rather just vault straight to the floor. I don’t know if he made it, but I hope he did.

I was in the mood for a taste of disney music this morning and so I added a song from moana to my playlist. Only one, as I wanted to test the waters with the kid who works in the garden. If he was super not into it I wouldn’t play any more. But alas, he said he was super into it. AKA there’s about to be a whole lot more disney music on the farm, likely accompanied by a whole lot of bad singing. What can I say, I worked in WDW for 7 months, I can’t help but like the music.

My back is hurting from sitting hunched on the ladder typing this, so i am going to get back to pulling basils. I hope you all enjoy the nice weather and day dream of beautiful lettuce (come buy some!).
